- One of Muhammed's wives Aisha was six or seven years old when she was married to Muhammad and nine when the marriage was consummated. He was in his fifties at the time.
- Quran 4:34 allows Muslim men to discipline their wives by striking them
- The penalty for apostasy (renunciation of Islamic beliefs) in Islamic law is death.
- In Sharia courts, Male Muslim witnesses are deemed twice as reliable as female Muslim witnesses, and non-Muslim witnesses considered unreliable and receive no priority in a Sharia court. In criminal cases, women witnesses may even be considered unacceptable.
- Terrorists don't represent Islam, but Islamic texts and traditions provide the theological framework they're using
- When you want to understand a cult, you talk to the people who have left that cult. Imagine telling cult survivors: "Well, we need to hear from current cult leaders to get the full picture. Your experience of abuse is just one perspective. We must respect their religious freedom."
